Em 2013, fui convidado pela Revista piauí para ilustrar a ficção do escritor Carlos Eduardo Pereira, autor de livros como “Agora Agora” e “Bailinho”. O conto, intitulado “Quem me conhece sabe”, apesar de fictício, é bastante realista e reflete o momento atual, no qual notícias falsas e palavras de ódio são proferidas com naturalidade. Minha ideia ao criar a ilustração foi capturar o ambiente descrito no texto, com elementos de fogo e hostilidade predominantes.

In 2013, I was invited by Revista piauí to illustrate the fiction of writer Carlos Eduardo Pereira, author of books such as “Agora Agora” and “Bailinho”. The short story, entitled “Who knows me knows”, despite being fictional, is quite realistic and reflects the current moment, in which fake news and hateful words are uttered naturally. My idea when creating the illustration was to capture the environment described in the text, with predominant elements of fire and hostility.

A leitura do texto foi fundamental para encontrar as peças-chave da ilustração. As pessoas se manifestando, andando em manada e sendo atraídas pelo ódio foram o meu ponto de partida.

Fui adicionando mais elementos ao ambiente, como os traumas e a tensão do personagem que está narrando. A partir daí, tive a visão de que o vermelho deveria ser a cor predominante pela conta do fogo e das tochas.
I kept adding more elements to the setting, such as the traumas and the tension of the character who is narrating. From there, I had the vision that red should be the predominant color because of the fire and the torches.
